What to bring?
Ditto on the Chapstick. It was a total lifesaver, since my lips were cracked due to not being allowed to drink even a sip of water for like a 24 hour span.

Chapstick and ear plugs. Hospitals are noisy places and I slept so much better with the ear plugs. Try to take home some of those bed liners when you leave - just in case to protect your bed and chair for a few days afterwards. I had some incontinence issues for a few days at home. If you have a CPAP machine, bring that too.

You can also just do two hospital gowns, one facing forward and the other back, to eliminate the risk of accidentally flashing someone in the hallway. That way you don't have to struggle in and out of shorts, or risk getting blood/bodily fluids on your own clothes.
One suggestion I got pre-op that helped me a lot was for a specific type of bra. Now, if you are the sort of person who can be comfy without a bra, then don't bother. But if walking around braless is weird or painful, you might want to get a soft, cotton, fasten-in-front leisure bra. No underwire! Many surgeons use a technique that will leave you with an incision right at the bra line and fasten-in-front soft bra is the best way to go to feel supported without pain. Good luck!
They did the two gown thing for me. My hospital did not allow for me to wear shorts or anything underneath so this was not an option. :(
