Approved!
I was shocked and amazed to find out I was approved for VSG today! I am scheduled for surgery March 16th! I am beyond nervous, and am so grateful to read all of these informative posts. Does anyone have any advice about getting through the pre op diet? I am caffeine dependant and very anxious about cutting it out completely. Thanks!
Congratulations on getting your insurance approval. That's wonderful. I hope you have every success in your weight loss journey.
If you are caffeine dependent, you may have nasty headaches when you cut it out. I'd suggest weaning off the caffeine as fast as you can, perhaps have one cup with caffeine in the morning and then decaf the rest of the day. That'll make the transition easier when you have to give it up completely.
I found the preop diet to be the hardest part. After surgery, your body changes and its easier. But the pre-op was challenging. One thing I'd recommend is going low carb ASAP. Carbs cause food cravings, and if you are low carb before the liquid diet, you won't have the carb withdrawal at the same time as you are having only liquids.
Best of luck,
Carol
