Welcome back!  I would think that at 6 months you could get your protein from food, not shakes.   I still have a shake in the morning because if I don't, I don't eat and I justify the cost with :the shake is a lot less then I used to spend on food before surgery"!

You will figure it out :)

hard boiled egg - lunch meat wrapped with cheese - a chicken tender.  All easy to grab and eat!

Ditto to this! Shakes are expensive and I, personally, HATE sweets to it was torture for me to try and drink them down in the morning. I tried to get off them ASAP and did so about a month post-op.

Some creative, and inexpensive, ideas that helped me was doing meal prep in advance. Some quick "on the go" breakfasts I have are things like:

  • Bacon-wrapped cheese cups - I make a batch of these Sunday night for the week - and often throw in diced veggies, cheese, etc. They last the week and are so delicious AND inexpensive!
  • Deli turkey roll-ups - I weigh out 2 oz. of turkey slices and throw in some shredded cheese, or cream cheese, and roll-up with cucumber, etc.
  • Smoked salmon roll-ups (similar to the above).
  • Hard-boiled eggs
