Is chiropractic manipulation safe after VSG?
This may be a stupid question, but since they push on you, i thought id ask :)
I have had terrible tail bone pain pretty much since surgery (5 weeks ago) and am thinking about seeing a chiropractor. Has anyone experienced this and if so what did you do that helped? Thank you

yes it is safe but you want to wait at least 6 weeks. Tailbone pain happens when lots of cushioning (fat) is lost. It gets better over time

Just make sure your practitioner is helping to realign things for the sole sake of physical mechanics. The "subluxation theory" they push, which suggests that poorly-aligned spines interfere with nerves and cause poor health, is complete and utter bull.

Good article. I have seen two very good chiropractors over the years. Both treated ONLY skeletal and muscular problems. Nothing more. The one I currently see has patients who swear he "made them well" by adjusting away their headaches. He chuckles and says they can believe what they want, but he knows it's just coincidence. All he does is work with the spine and muscles surrounding the spine to help control back issues. Works for me.
Yep. I have had a lot of surgeries since the sleeve and invariably when I come out of them I am all out of whack. Couple trips to the chiro takes care of it. I usually go in a few times prior to surgery to try to minimize issues as well.

I will say I had terrible tailbone pain until about 8 weeks out, I didn't go to my regular chiro because I was nervous about getting adjusted so soon after major surgery. I woke up one day around week nine and all pain was gone, and I have an office job where I sit the majority of the day so I am sure that wasn't helping. If you can tough it out with over the counter pain meds it might save you some money and unnecessary body stress. But do what you think it best for you :D
