Happy Dance
Tomorrow will be 7 months and one week post my VSG. It seems that the last ten pounds to goal are tough to shed! However, when I stepped on the scale this morning I was 149.4, which means I have a BMI considered to be in the "normal" range for the first time in more than 26 years (and even then, only briefly)! It makes the struggle for these last 9 pounds (or more, depending on how I feel when I get there), all the more worthwhile.
It's been a stressful couple of months for me in the life department, but I am so grateful that I had my surgery and this group for support. I know in the past I would have eaten myself into a coma in an attempt to deal with the all the difficult emotions, but I am finding new and healthier ways to cope with these feelings now. My current mantra is "progress, not perfection."
In many ways I am waiting for my mind to catch up to my body. As the size of my clothes continue to decrease, I often find myself thinking..."oh, this must be mislabeled!" My knees, back and feet are no longer sore and I am able to move and bend my body in ways I couldn't before. When I look in the mirror, my eyes still tend to focus on the extra skin or sagging, but once in awhile I will catch sight of my much slimmer profile in passing and can't help but smile.
I don't post or reply as often as I like (or feel I should), but a big thanks to those who do post regularly, both experienced VSG'ers and newbies. I am nervous about approaching maintenance, even with all the great advice and encouragement this board provides. Like many, I have lost and then gained back the weight so many times, that it's a deep seated fear of mine. Not that a little fear is bad...hopefully it will help to keep me on track!

There is a maintenance group that you might want to check out at http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/VSGM/
It isn't just for people already at maintenance....really for anyone that wants to explore the topic. A very supportive group plus a lot of old posts to learn from.

That is just super cool- and I love your mantra! Couldn't agree more by the way, as I used to be a total all or nothing type when it came to diet/nutrition. Keep the pace to lose your last little chunk, as you will be very glad you did once you get there!
