Slow Heart Rate & Close to 1 year post VSG update/progress
Greetings,
Prior to surgery my heart rate was in the normal range and post surgery it has slowed below 60 hb per minute and my EKG is sinus brady normal axis, its always between 50-60. Everything was normal, just slower rate. I was informed that it was fine and nothing to be concerned about so I'm not, but I was curious to know if anyone else has had this issue post surgery?
On another note, I am down 135 pounds, who hoo!! Totally happy with my results and still slowly slowly losing at this point. I am still not close to goal either and I don't know how I feel about that. I wanted to lose 192 pounds total so I'm still 57 pounds short of that goal or it just may take me 2 years total to get to that goal. I have gone from 367 pounds to 232 pounds as of today. Although, everyone is telling me not to lose another pound, I think I carry the extra weight well. I'm 5'11, male, 56 waist to 38 and a 19 inch neck to 16, and 4X shirts to large, so I can't complain at all. Loving life and feeling great.
Curious to also know how much weight was lost between year 1 and 2 post surgery so that I can know what to realistically expect going forward. I want to get as low and possible so that when the regain happens (if) I still want to be at weight that I can maintain long term going forward. Any input/advice welcomed.
Yes, my resting heart rate is like that as well. I am still motivated and not worried about losing the additional weight and its been a crawl for me since 9 months. But I have lost 7 pounds this year so far.
If you are in good cardiovascular health it's normal to have a low resting heart rate. Are you working out regularly? Once I began running my resting heart rate went down. It's now between 40-50. It dropped even lower during an upper GI I had recently. They weren't concerned at all.

Congrats on the weight loss & heart rate. I don't remember if my heart rate went down post op, but I know its in the normal range. Everyone is different in regards to weight loss so all I can say is stay the course & eventually you'll get to goal. I'm approaching 2 years & am still in active weight loss mode. It does slow down!, but ya gotta hang in there! Good Luck!
