weighing, measuring and tracking food

I have to admit, I HATE measuring and tracking my food. Sometimes, I just want to eat. I do it, but I don't enjoy it.  So I am making me a plate of something, I have to get the scale out, check how many grams, ounces, mls, whatever then try to find on my app to figure out how many calories it is, sometimes I have to do some math so I can get close to the correct calories. Sometimes I am not sure if the calories are even correct. Is there a way to make this task less daunting?

If you prep meals and weigh them in advance and keep them in the fridge for several days that's probably the easiest. That's what I do. But it just depends on what kind of effort you want to put in. Also for accuracy use the scan option on My Fitness Pal when you can, it pulls the nutrients directly from the food bar code, it's rarely off and if it is you can create a custom food.

Thanks. My goal is to prep in advance, but I never seem to get there. I have a crazy work schedule but I am going to try.

I understand. It really only takes about 20 minutes once you know what you're doing. :D

I don't do that. I just commit to never eating more then 3/4 cup per a meal, and I eat whatever I want to, knowing I need to eat protein first and fill up with veggies or fruit. I don't count calories, I simply measure 3/4 cups and eat nothing but protein/veggies/fruit all 3 meals. I don't count calories, I don't track anything.

Weighing and tracking food becomes second nature. Once I had all of my commonly eaten foods in MyFitnessPal, it's just a matter of putting the amounts in. Yeah, it can be a little bit of math. But for me it's absolutely been worth it. I've been the same weight for 3 years, with no regain. It's totally worth the couple of minutes it takes to weigh my food and put it in my log.

I wish I could tell you a shortcut, but I do it the same way. 1266 days in a row, so far.

And I thought I was doing good with 200 days of logging in MFP!

Is it wrong of me to hope that you'll have a Rip Van Winkle moment and miss a day of logging?  Because my measly 472 days of logging pales in comparison.

I'm a competitive beast, dammit.

Some day I expect you or Kat to keep me tied up long enough for my streak to end.
