10 Months Later - Goal Weight Achieved!

I'm so happy to share with all of you that I've officially hit my goal weight of 140.0 lbs.  My surgeon's office gave me a goal weight of 145, but I wanted to get to 140 so that I'd have wiggle room as we all know weight can fluctuate from day to day - especially for women!

I started my journey in October 2014 and here I am 16 months later (10 months post-op) and after 60+ yoga classes, feeling strong, feeling healthy and finally at my goal weight.  Bonus - I put my measurements into that dreaded BMI tool and found out that I'm also officially in the "normal" category.  Even with the excess skin clearly weighing something, I'm considered normal on all levels.

My stats to date:

  • Start Weight: 283.2
  • Current Weight:  140.0 lbs (I've officially lost 1/2 my body weight - amazing!)
  • Total weight loss:  -143.2 lbs
  • Goal Weight (includes 5 lb buffer):  140.0 lbs (Goal achieved on 2/12/16)
  • Starting Clothing Size 20 W, Current Clothing Size 4

I'm not sharing any NSVs today because you know what, today is all about the SV.  While the scale should NEVER be the sole indicator of health or progress, I know those of you out there that are on the same path or have followed me all this time are smiling WITH me right now.  To all of you, your encouragement and words of advice throughout this journey has helped to keep me motivated.  I can never fully express my gratitude and hope that I can continue to share in your journey and cheer each of you on as well.  I know that that type of support means and don't take it for granted.  So while I may be starting a new journey (maintenance) I'll be here to complain, laugh and cheer on everyone else.  I will continue to share my maintenance journey and any tips I pick up along the way.  We continue to be in this TOGETHER.  In fact, the journey just continues - and that's what it's all about.

To anyone out there struggling today, just remember this:

  • You are strong.
  • You are worthy.
  • Be kind to yourself.
  • Enjoy the journey.
  • Get out there and crush those goals!

Here's to continuing this journey together!

Janell

congratulations on a job well done!

Now comes the part without the plan! Tread lightly and wisely into maintenance. Frisco coined the phrase "Protect your Skinny" and you really do have to do that, just as Diane mentioned. It's not always easy, but it's very important!

Love your great attitude. You should do just great!

Thank you.  My food plan was basically following the guidelines of my surgeon.  Each surgeon is different, so what mine had me on may not be the same as others.  If you are looking for something specific, send me a note though.  I'm happy to share what worked for me and about my plan.

I didn't really add in formal exercise until about 2 months post-op.  I did walk a lot, but outside of that nothing.  Then 2 months post-op I started yoga and fell in love with it.  Now I am naturally just more active in general, but get in at least 3-4 classes weekly.
