My "plan" was given to me by my NUT & the weight loss center. It your post op instructions in detail. Mine what a timeline of what and when I should be eating certain things. Basically went from liquids, to soft food to food. It also told us what food to focus on, what food to avoid and target goals of protein, water & carbs.

Hi HI BREEZY,  YOU SHOULD GET "THE PLAN" AT THE NUTRITIONIST/DIETICIAN VISIT.

AND BY THE TIME YOU GET YOUR SURGERY YOU WILL HAVE KNOWN "THE PLAN" IF YOU STICK TO THESE FORUMS..

There are high percentage plans and low percentage plans and every plan in between.

Many plans these days are geared towards 50-60% EWL as successful.

The VSG is NOT a standardized procedure in specification, technique, plan and aftercare.

I'm sorry you lost me there haha! What's an EWL? What do the percentages mean?

EWL----------Excess Weight Loss

If you have 100lbs. to lose and the average percentage of EWL is 50-60% that is deemed successful by many programs means that you would lose 50-60lbs.

If 50-60% EWL is your goal also, than your all good.

It is ultimately up to you, heck... it is not impossible for you to lose more than that without WLS.

WLS just "helps" and gives you/us an "advantage" of sort..... no guarantees.

Just know that for every person you read/hear about that has done well with WLS there are many more stories about people who did not do well with it.

Looking for a surgeon that has the data and the success rate that matches your intentions helps greatly.

If you want to lose 100% EWL it helps to go to a surgeon that frequently gets their patients to 100% EWL...... Key word "helps".

Some surgeons will flat out tell you your not going to lose 100% EW.

My point is that if you have a choice, get with a surgeon that has a success rate similar to your goals.

In general, smaller sleeves and more aggressive plans/programs with education tend to do better in WL and lower percentage of regain.

Hope this helps !

I had RNY 14 months ago and my Surgeon and her office gave me specific intructions to follow. I have been pretty darn good about that. However each time I went off plan I immediately gained weight. I still weigh everyday and it works. Good luck to you.
