Seven years ago I had five years to live...

Seven years ago I was on 480 units of insulin daily, maximum doses of everything the Dr could give me, sleep apnoea and high blood pressure.  Best estimate was that I'd last five years, and I had an eleven year-old son.

VSG six years ago this month.  No longer on insulin, no more sleep apnoea and minimum doses of diabetes and blood pressure meds.  Normalish life expectancy.

Over the past year my weight crept up ten pounds.  Since the beginning of January I've lost eight pounds by upping my protein, separating food and liquid intake and banishing carbs as much as possible.  My sleeve still works if I work with it!

To any *****member me - Greetings.  To everyone else, good luck on this journey!  I still want fries, cake and bread, but I won't eat them today..... :-)

Glad to make your acquaintance, Paul. I was 63 when I had VSG almost exactly one year ago. Before the surgery, I didn't expect to make it to 65 with all my comorbidities. I'm not at goal yet, but expect to reach it by summer. I'm sure I've added years to my life already.

Thanks for your reminders to keep working with the sleeve no matter how long ago the surgery. Thanks too for the reminder that cravings for junk never go away.

Enjoy a long and healthy life!
