One Year Surgiversary

I haven't posted in a very long time, but thought it would be worth doing on my one year surgiversary.  I couldn't even find a full body before picture on my phone, but the face shot tells the story.  The after shot was the day I bought a pair of size 8 jeans (the ones you can't see in the before were 22).

I had VSG on January 27, 2015, the day after a big snowstorm that caused others to postpone, but not me!  I and just one other patient had all the attention in the world from the nurses on the Bariatric ward at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY.  I followed all the instructions to the letter and had a smooth recovery.  Got all the predicted gas pains, plateus, hair fallout (now have q-tip head - it is coming back strong!) and was at my goal of "normal" BMI (down from 41) in 8 months.

I've lost 100 pounds and feel like myself again.  At 45 years old I am probably in the best shape of my life.  I eat like a thin person - I say crazy things like "want to share that donut" , "I'm freezing cold in here", "I'm happy with just a few bites of dessert,"  "I'm in the mood to exercise", "yes I'd love to go jeans shopping".  I enjoy getting dressed in the morning, walking around anywhere, exercising (though still have to work on doing it regularly) and seeing myself in the mirror and even in pictures!  I never get tired of people telling my I look great.

If you think you are ready to do this - do it!  Find the right program - make sure you have the nutrition, general heath, and psychological support you need along with an experienced surgeon.  Use the information and support you find on this website.  Commit to following the instructions and to changing your life - because you can!

You are such an inspiration!  You look awesome and thanks for sharing.  How often do you work out and what do you like to eat to stay on track?
