Real talk! (About this Tuna Salad)

Hey ya'll! I'm officially 2 weeks post-op and cleared for soft/pureed/mush foods! Horray!!

So can I be real? This mushed up tuna salad was the BEST thing I have ever eaten in my entire life!  After 2 weeks of liquids I was so ready for food, I brought this to the doctors appt with me!!

Anyone else love putting their food in cute toddler cups and dishes? No? Just me? :P

I am so excited to be down 17 pounds so far and feeling pretty good. I still have occasional abdominal pain on my left side, but no other complaints!

I was wondering what your guys' favorite soft foods are/were, I would love to have some extra ideas!

hahaha that's a cool looking container! I should have thought of that. I'm almost a year out but I pretty much went from liquids to soft foods and skipped the pureed. But I ate mainly yogurt and cottage cheese. Almost a year out and I still can't eat key lime yogurt because I ate so much during that phase. blah.

Thanks! It was totally the first thing I went out and bought- Toddler stuff! haha.

I'm scared of that happening with my favorite yogurt too, so thanks for letting me know you can get tired of flavors! I will keep it switched up. ;)

I'm not cleared for semi soft foods until the 29th :(  I'm going shopping tomorrow for eggs, cottage cheese and ricotta. No tuna, crab or cheese until week 5

That's so close! Only 2 days away. You'll make it, I promise. I had a few nights towards the end of my two weeks where I was crying because I was so "hungry" for real food, lol, so I know the pain. 

Eggs and cheese sound delicious to me, and I've even got a great technique on cooking eggs so they're super soft. I think if you look up "english style scrambled eggs" Gordon Ramsey has a tutorial on them. I highly recommend!

Congrats!! I personally love watching WLS journey on Youtube, thanks for the link! I liked cottage cheese and beans during the soft stage, eggs was allowed too but I couldn't handle eggs until 4 months post op.

I love watching them too, that's why I decided to start making my own. It's pretty fun because I love talking! 

I've never been a fan of cottage cheese, but everyone has recommended it to me, so maybe I should re-visit it. Thanks for the advice!

I'm 9 weeks out and I am still partial to chicken salad, I grab the 6 pack of canned chicken in water from Costco and I will open up two cans at a time, drain the water, pulverize/shred the chicken, put it in a container with just a small amount of mayo. Then I will have about 4-5 servings from the two cans. I put it in the fridge so it gets cold and poof, instant meal. It's simple, just make sure you if try it to get it in water, not oil or anything else.

Can you believe I've never had canned chicken? Didn't even really know it was a thing. I'll definitely have to make a Costco run it sounds like!

Thank you so much for sharing how you prepare it. Isn't it crazy we can get so much food from what most people would consider a normal serving? Loving it so far!

Another thing I do, I shop a lot at Costco. In their refrigerated section (the ones that are open top and you reach down into, not the tall ones with the sealed doors), near to where they have the fresh crab and such, They have containers of lump crab meat. The container looks like a pint of ice cream. (for those who get mad easily, it's not ice cream :P ) I make crab salad with that as well, same as the chicken salad as I mentioned above, but I add in a little lemon juice, etc. and it comes out great. It's like $17 a container or so, but it's also real crab, not imitation. Also I pick up cans of albacore tuna there, same results as the chicken. Just make sure it's packed in water and not oil.
