Surgery on Thursday!
Hi everybody! I am very new to this site. My VSG surgery is going to be in Mexicali by Dr. Wilhelmy on 01/28! Right around the corner and I am very excited! I am 6 days into my pre-op diet and it is going very well. I weighed myself the morning of day three and I had already lost 8 lbs. Even up to the point of watching my scale weigh me I was thinking I hadn't lost anything. Big surprise! TMI!! I had planned to weigh myself every two days just to see a little progress, but I started my menstrual cycle and figured I would just wait until the one week mark. Along with the pre-op diet I also started a dance type of exercise that I've been doing every other day.
I think about all of the possibilities and how much my life is going to change. I am so ready for what the rest of this year has in store for me. Thanks for reading!!
It sounds like the Year of Ashley is off to a great start. Congratulations and best of luck!

Thank you so much! Lol, I've also heard that the hospitals are very clean! I will definitely be posting an update after surgery!
Congratulations! I wish you an uneventful surgery, an easy recovery, and all the weight loss you're looking for. ((Hugs))
Question: I'm curious as to how the Mexico surgery thing works. For me, doing it in the States, my surgeon had me do a pre-op class and I had to have at least one visit with him (another doc had been seeing me during my insurance requirement stage) before my surgery. Do you have to do that kind of thing when you get your surgery in Mexico? How many times you you actually have to fly to Mexico?
Thanks for indulging me.
Thanks so much!
I had to apply for surgery and fill out a little questionnaire type thing that included and health issues I may have or that my family has had. It's pretty basic. The dr reviews my application and medical records. I have no health issues so I was quickly approved. I do not have to take any classes before. I have communicated a lot with a patient coordinator whom answers all my questions and sends me email preparing me for my trip. I only have to travel there once. Pre-op tests are done the day before surgery. Of course if there were any issues more tests would be done before surgery. If all checks out, I'm more than sure it will, then I'll have surgery the next day. After I return home I contact them and let them know how I'm doing every 10 days for the first month, I believe. After that it's once a month for the first year. I'm supposed to have a check up with my GP after 3 months for blood work. I hope I'm getting this part right. I haven't completely memorized what I'm supposed to do after. Too preoccupied with the surgery itself, lol. If you have any other questions I would be more than willing to answer them!
