Been way too long, back at it to vent because. . . yep, I gained.

I haven't had pasta, rice, or potatoes in 5 years.  I will have one piece of toast when My husband and I go out for breakfast about twice a month.  I assure you that it is possible to control your carb loving impulses.  Calling people who take this WLS journey seriously and follow the rules to the letter "liars" is counterproductive.  Gaining control of your food demons is the most important part of the journey.  If you don't do it early out from your surgery, when you are most motivated, then you NEVER will.

It is nothing like it used to be Allison. The carb wars have died pretty much. Now the "popular' plan is presented as a choice, and a higher carb path as a choice and not necessarily as one being worse. For those who endorse the low carb under 800 path is is typically done with a sincere qualifier of this is what is working for me versus the old your doomed to fail if you don't follow it mantra. In other words, more balanced and less flaming. People are benefitting from it IMHO.

Attitude is everything, go back to basics and cut out the booze and carbs as much as possible. Be careful though, tell anyone you ate a club sandwich on here and they will be after you with pitchforks and flaming brands. ;)

For the most part, people on here have your, and everyone else's best interests at heart.  Being an ass may change that.  If you put it out there, you have to expect people will have an opinion and those opinions may not be exactly what you want to hear.

I remember your club sandwich post, and thought that people were very helpful in analysing what you said and offering advice based on their experiences.  Let's be honest, "don't ever eat a sandwich" was not the main message that was given, although unfortunately it seems to be the main one you took.

If you have only been here a hot minute and already have a block list and a couple of "lively" posts, you might want to wonder why the pitchforks are chasing you and not everyone else.

Congratulations on meeting someone amazing.

It's always a great reminder to hear from people who've had WLS what the future can hold.  Gain/maintain/lose - I'm glad you came back to share what's going on in your life.  Yet another reminder for all of us that it's only a tool and we always have to be diligent.

I'm glad you're taking charge of the situation and working on it.

Thank you! I have lost a little under 2lbs since yesterday. We all have our ups and downs, some people don't admit that. I had mine and I am still happy with my choosing WLS. Many people have issues, sharing is caring. It's a tool, not a guarantee.

It's been 4 years since I've even sniffed pasta or rice. Not a tiny bit. I didn't touch a piece of bread until I was well beyond my goal weight. I've had pizza 4 times in 4 years.

For the new people reading this, don't fall into the "everybody slips up sometimes" trap. No, they don't. Do I eat what some others think of as crap? Yes, I do. But I plan for all of it, weigh and track every bite, and make sure the books balance.

Rissa, I applaud you for coming back, taking a close look at what you've been doing, and making a new plan. I see people wander away from OH a lot, and they come back with an attitude of complete denial. With you facing your issues, I think you'll do just great.

Wow, that's fantastic! Thank you, I admit when I mess up. I did. I know I did. Now im fixing it. For me, its a mind issue. "I can have a bite, it wont matter". Every bite DOES matter. Now, I tell myself, nope, I CANT have that. Some of us just have to readjust. Not everyone is perfect. I wandered away but I didn't come back with denial. I admitted. It's fine. One day at a time. Get a plan and stick do it. It's a lifestyle change. Change is good.
