Intantpot pressure cooker- kitchen gadget disease

The yogurt thing was a big deal for me and was the reason why I finally broke down and bought it. I started making homemade yogurt with the help of an awesome former poster on this site and my family LOVED it. Problem was it made so little per batch I was making at least 3 batches a week and it got really old. The Instantpot is soooooooo much easier. 1 pot to scald and the timer does the finishing. Beautiful. I just bought a bag from the beer making store that is intended for straining off whey from cheese- it is the perfect size when tied to my cupboard door and resting on a strainer over a large bowl. Should only take an hour. I used to use a very nifty strainer combo intended for greek yogurt, but it only fits the 42 ounce amount. This is faster and easier :)

Those bags are a neat idea!  I almost got one for making almond milk.

I use this with cheese cloth for my yogurt, mostly because I got it to steam stuff in the instant pot, and I was randomly searching for tools to use, but it's clumsy.  I'll definitely get a bag now!

That looks handy. Can you use it in the IP? I am completely out of cupboard space though.... hmmmm.... might be time to start hanging crap from the ceiling! I have nutbags that I use for my almond milk. I could have used those for the yogurt, but the material on the one I just bought seemed more suitable for the yogurt with a little more capacity. Turned out to be the perfect size.

Mine fits perfectly in my instant pot, but I have an older one from 2014. :)

I asked for and received the T-Fal programmable grill for Christmas from my daughter, based on your recommendation. Haven't used it yet but looking forward to trying it.

Guess this instanapot will be on next years list, lol.

I think perhaps you may have had that recommended from a different poster, as I have not used one. Let me know how you like it though! I love grilled food, but hate getting the grill going. I have been using a grill pan, but end up wrecking the coating on them pretty quick and then they are terrible to clean.

There's one brand that has an infomercial that I've watched a few times...and they just introduced a larger-sized cooker.  I think it is a 10 quart size.  W0w!

I've had an Instantpot for about 2-3 years and have never used it....I should take it out.  I thought about giving it to my daughter -sounds like she could use it as she works full time and has a young daughter to take care of...  I'll have to pull up some recipes.

My mother-in-law did that, albeit a different version. I think in her case she didn't ever get around to just figuring out how to use it. I feel pretty certain that if she would just set it up and commit to trying just 3 simple recipes she would be hooked. If the brand that is kicking out the 10 quart capacity is the XL, I read a lot of reviews online that the unit burns out quickly... and that there is only a 1 month warrenty. My other concern would be that it would take a really long time to get to pressure/natural release, but that may be unfounded.

That was me with my regular pressure cooker.  I bought it, about 10 years ago, to make Alton Brown's chili.  I made the chili once and then never used the pressure cooker again.

My Instant Pot, however, I used 5 times in the first week I got it.  And I've used it at least weekly since.  I think it helps that so many people in the blogosphere are on the Instant Pot bandwagon, so there are LOTS of posts with recipes for it.
