Hi, my name is Judith, and I had VSG on December 3rd, 2015. My starting weight was 317 lbs and I am currently (a little over 1 month post op) 285.8 lbs. I lost a little over 30 lbs in a month. As I was sharing my journey on facebook, I noticed many people were interested in it and started asking me a lot of questions. I realized that having this experience can be of help to others who are considering doing the surgery, so I thought it was time for me to join this forum and share my experiences as well as reading up on other people's experiences.

I went into the surgery well prepared. I read lots about it but am down to earth enough not to get worried about all the bad things I read. I think that is one of the major factors to be successful. Do your homework, prepare properly and know what you can expect afterwards. Many people have thrown "You're taking the easy way out" accusations at me. If you think this is a walk in the park, think again. Even though I had done much research, there were still many things I was not quite prepared for and that I had to deal with as they came.

If you're considering any sort of bariatric surgery, it will be the best thing you will ever do for yourself. Yes it will change your life forever, yes it will take time to adjust to the new normal, but in the end, you will be a healthier and happier person!

Looking forward to hearing from you and reading your stories :)
