Weight gain with IUD
If you are finished having babies a vasectomy is great birth control.
I don't think she can have a vasectomy, can she?

Thanks for your post. I have gained some weight over the past 2 years. I am 3 years post op. I can't say it isn't without some of my own doing certainly, emotionally, etc. However, I read your post as though I wrote it myself...and back tracking around to the time I got my Mirena. Just seemed bizarre. I wish you the best. I may consider a more permanent birth control method since I have a child already. Best of luck to you!

I can certainly attest to the ability to eat more calories 3 years post op. However, I begin gaining weigh 13 months post op, creeping up and up for almost the next 2 years. I take full responsibility for that. I just agreed with the connection of her post as I too experience the same similarities and have also always had issues with PCOS. But working back towards my VSG self because I am happier with her.

Last year I was looking for a new BC method, and wanted to get away from anything hormonal, both due to the potential for weight gain, and because they seem to contribute to some headache issues I have. Anyway, I decided on the Paraguard IUD, which is just copper, no hormones and good for 10 years vs. the Mirena which I think is 5 or 7? Anyway, they say it can cause heavier periods/cramping vs the hormonal methods which can sometimes give you lighter or even no periods, but I never noticed any issues with it. Just another possibility to explore with your Ob/gyn. :-)
