Surgery coming up, very nervous
It's a big decision and I don't know of anyone who isn't nervous on some level.
I had my surgery December 7th and much of my nervousness was gone by the day of surgery. You can ask for something to make you less anxious as soon as they start the IV.
Bottom line is...it's normal to be nervous, and being nervous doesn't mean you're making the wrong decision.
Best of luck...you'll do great!
Surgery is a big deal, and so is being anxious. But most people sail through with no problems, and you will to.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Whenever I got nervous I'd try a little deep breathing. A little meditation would probably help too. Congrats, you're about to go on an amazing journey. Keep your eyes on the prize. You'll be ok & there are plenty of people on these boards to give advice & support.
Saving a spot for you on the losers bench. Good luck! & speedy recovery.

If you weren't nervous and a little anxious, I'd be worried. Surgery is a big deal and is a life changing decision. I'm a nurse and have worked in the hospital for 25year and I was very nervous....of course I was the patient this time! Seriously, this is very normal. Stay focused on your goals and you will be just fine. I'm very excited for you! Let us know how you are doing.

You said it all very well Rick. If with all your experience you were nervous then the rest of us should be to some extent as well. It is a huge life changing decision. One you will be so happy you made when the surgery is over and you are healed from it. Good luck next week.
My surgery is Tuesday 12/15, so I can certainly relate to the nerves! Reading the many success stories on this website has helped me to stay focused and keep my "eye on the prize"! Looking forward to sharing recovery experiences with you next week.
All the best!
That is all normal. I tried to focus on the reasons I was doing this. Feeling better, promoting my own health, getting my life back, prevention of co morbidities or progression of the ones I had. It also calmed me to look at before and after pics on this site and others like it.
