Constipation
on 12/6/15 8:20 pm - WI
There are almost daily posts on this subject. It's a common problem after WLS. If you go to the search feature (little magnifying glass in the blue bar at the top of the screen) and type in "constipation" you will get hundreds of posts with lots of ideas to get you "moving" again. Everyone has their own formula. The biggest culprit is not drinking enough fluids. 64 ounces is the minimum amount you should be drinking. I have to drink about 120 ounces to keep things going. I also take a dose of Benefiber, twice daily, and 500 mg of magnesium daily. It works for me.
I add Miralax to my daily breakfast protein shake. 1/2 dose if I've pooped that morning, an entire dose if I haven't. This keeps me nicely regular. I also take a probiotic daily and I definitely notice a difference if I skip it for a few days.
Both of these are non-habit forming, so I'm okay with the usage.

anyone have any home remedies. I have been doing stool softener so but really don't want to rely on that.
you may never have a normal stool again without " relying" on something regularly. Stool softener a are just that they soften the stool so easier to pass. They are not addicting.
