Thanks for posting this thought provoking article.

I think that like many who have had surgery and most who won't, think that it will be easier with just a smaller stomach to fill.

I am 4 years out after VSG, & believe me, sometimes my head gets screwed up & I try to eat more than I should & my little stomach still lets me know in uncertain terms, that I over did it!

Your head needs to be in the right place to succeed. I have lost over 200 pounds & continue to lose but now very slowly, about 3-5 pounds a month. I went from a size 32-34 to a size 10-12. I stay ever vigilant about what goes into my mouth & what I still can't tolerate. I had a love affair with anything chocolate before surgery, now I can barely  tolerate it. It does make baking for the holidays easier, no tasting very much any more.

I was also a "carboholic" - I love pasta, but now about a half a cup suffices. More than that makes me sick. If someone told me this before surgery, it would have been laughed at them!

So, thanks for giving me the opportunity write about my journey.

It's true that weight loss doesn't solve emotional problems as well as it does physical ones. I don't have the self-hatred that so many lifelong obese people seem to have. I never had a serious weight problem until I reached my late 40s, so I never had to endure the misery that obese children and teenagers are subjected to. But I agree wholeheartedly that weight loss and maintenance is an ongoing process that must be lived every day, every hour, every minute for the rest of my life.

However, with apologies to Sophie Tucker -- I've been fat and I've been thin. Thin is better.

LOL on the musical! Not surprising! Clearly we have great taste!

Hope your baking day was successful. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season as well. At least we have a game to watch on New Years Day!
