Work in Progress (with pictures)
On January 15, 2014, when I first visited my weight loss doctor, I had given up on myself. I was huge, at 388 pounds, and after dozens of failed diets, this was going to be my last attempt to lose weight. I wasn't feeling very hopeful that I would have any success. I did not like what I looked like, so I hid from cameras. I regret now not taking any "before" pictures, so I could see my progress. For anyone just starting this process, please take pictures now. Also, if you are not seeing a therapist, I would recommend finding one. The head issues unfortunately do not disappear the same way the pounds do.
I started losing weight through my doctor's program but it took me a while to decide on the VSG surgery. I had the same doubts expressed over and over again on this site. I ultimately decided on the surgery, so that I could have one more thing to help me not gain everything back, a road I had travelled more than once. My surgery was just over a year ago. No, I haven't reach my goal yet but consider myself to be a work in progress. I've had a few missteps in the last few months, but I am looking on them as learning experiences. There have been many positives to my weight loss, including getting rid of all my prescriptions. While once I was feeling hopeless, now I do have hope. #gladihaditdone
