I had surgery 6 days before you and eat between 600 and 700 calories a day.  There is no way I could eat 1200 a day.  I would have to eat every hour to do that, and then I wouldn't be able to drink anything, because of the no drinking for 30 minutes after eating rule.

5' 5" tall. VSG on August 4, 2015/ Starting weight 239.9/ Surgery weight 210.9/ Current weight 137.4/ Goal weight 140/ No longer overweight, now a NORMAL weight. Now that I'm at goal, it's time to move on to maintenance!!!!!!!!

It seems like Nutritionists always suggest more calories than is the common wisdom on this site.  My calorie intake crept up slowly over time.  Immediately after surgery it was about 400-500 calories.  I ate 600-800 for most of the first 6 months, and then it went up to 1000 for the second 6 months. - all roughly.  I never increased intentionally.  It was driven by what felt right for my body at that time.  I'm in maintenance now, and I eat between 1200 and 1400 cals per day.  So I'd say 1200 is a little high for weight loss.

Good luck,

Carol
