I'm sure this subject has been done to death on this forum but I can't figure out how to easily search for old posts.

I'd love to know everyone's favorite protein shake, pre-mixed or powder. . . I start my pre-op liquid phase next Sunday and need to stock up!

Also, has anyone tried the Isopure clear protein drink?

Thanks for the input!

I'm pre-op too and I've tried quite a few protein powders and ready-to-drink shakes and the type I like the best is the Syntrax Nectar powder. It mixes really easily and it comes in a whole bunch of flavours. Specifically, I like the Fuzzy Navel flavour. It's good mixed with water (I sometimes add some peach tea Crystal Light) and it's really good mixed into plain Greek yogurt. One scoop has 90 calories, no carbs or sugar, and 23 grams of whey protein isolate. I order it online because I can't find it in Canada but you might be able to buy it in store depending on where you live. So yeah! I highly recommend it. I also like the chicken soup flavoured protein powder from Unjury. It's nice because it's savoury and provides a break from all the sweet drinks. I drink it by itself and I've mixed it into other soups and chilli. I dissolve it in a little bit of cool water first and then stir it into the warm liquid so that it doesn't clump. For ready-to-drink I like the old favourite Premier Protein in chocolate which I buy at Costco. I've tried the ready-to-drink Isopure and I don't really like it, to be honest. I find them really strong and sweet in flavour. I choked them down because they were expensive but I heavily diluted them with water. Hope this helps! Good luck on your pre-op diet!

It's so person-dependent.  I recommend getting samples from Nashua Nutrition and experimenting.

My favorite is Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate since it's not a super sweet chocolate.  I mix it with unsweetened almond milk.

I tried the ON one you used after reading your recommendation a while back, Gwen, and I must say it's really good! I switch between that and the tea flavored Syntrax Nectar protein powder (which I make with iced tea so I avoid chocolate fatigue.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

This is something I have been wondering also.  I have been doing a lot of research on Isopure.  I have read excellent things on it, but I am wondering about taste also.  Thanks for posting this!

ISOpure is good...no flavor. Add it to shakes or to broth, or pretty much anything to get the extra protein

Do you mean the clear Isopure drink or the powder?

Does the drink taste like a gaterade or how would you describe it?
