How much fluid/food at one time?

How much fluid should I be able to drink at one time? I am worried that my capacity is too much. I can drink a whole muscle milk which I think has like 14 oz.. A  cup has 8 oz.. I can also drink a cup of soup with no problem and not feel full... Don't feel "hungry" but I am also not "full". I guess I am having a hard time knowing how much/quantity at a time I am suppose to consume. I know that with food, my paper work says not to eat more than a cup of food at a time..

I guess I just thought that I was going to feel "full". Some people that I know that have had the surgery say they get stuffed with 1/2 cup.. I am still trying to feel out this new stomach.

My surgery was on October 5th. So I am almost 6 weeks out. I can drink a protein shake in about 15/20 minutes. I can keep down maybe 1/2 cup of food at a time. I think everyone is different and it depends on how tight your sleeve is. Maybe your swelling went down quicker than normal? Are you laying weight?

I haven't lost any weight this whole week. I posted a little "rant" post about that. I have been following my diet plan and taking in my 60g of protein in and also my water. I just know that everyone else talks about how they can only get in so much and I seem to be able to drink more with no problem. That worries me.

Surgery Oct 1st. Just started losing again after an almost 2week stall.  I hear that's very common. Although my clothes seemed to be loser even though the scale wasn't moving.

I'm three months out, and can still only eat â..." of a cup at a time, depending on the type of food.  Some foods I can only eat ¼ cup.  ½ cup would make me so full, I wouldn't be able to move.

I have been able to drink well since the beginning, and could drink lots of liquid from about 3 days out.

it depends on what it is.  I can only eat a couple of ounces of dense protein.  If I add vegetables or salad to that, maybe a cup altogether.  Things like soup I can eat about 1.5 cups.  Yogurt -  maybe a cup.   I'm RNY, though, and about six months out.

P.S. once you start eating solid foods, it'll be easier to tell when it's time to stop.  I rarely feel "full", but I start feeling uncomfortable.  I know if I keep going I'm probably going to vomit.

I had no problem with liquids post-op.  Lots of people do, but I wasn't one of them.  Most people don't feel restriction until they hit solid foods, so don't worry.  Liquids are always easier to consume - it's why so many plans urge us to avoid liquid calories aside from protein shakes.

Right after surgery your stomach is still healing - your nerves were severed.  Don't expect your stomach to be a reliable reporter of fullness until it is fully healed.

What Gwen said. I really had no issues with liquids straight of of survey, but I didn't pu**** I could eat a few bites of Greek yogurt the first week or so post op. Once you move to more solid foods, you will start to feel restriction. But it takes times for things to heal. Do not ru**** even if you feel like you can do more.
