Awwww! Real food!
I am 3 weeks out from my surgery today so I FINALLY got to start my soft foods! I was traveling for work as well, so thought it would be best if I waited until after I got off the airplane to start just in case my stomach wasn't happy with me. I just had 1/4 cup of refried beans with 1 tablespoon of low-fat cheese and a bit of bottled salsa! I was in heaven! It tasted so good! I am SO over protein shakes and can't wait to try a scrambled egg for breakfast. I couldn't finish all the beans, but did eat almost all of them. I never thought I would be SO excited to eat 1/4 cup of refried beans! What a strange new life! Ha!

Good for you! I am one week out today and am soooooo looking forward to when I can have something besides broth, protein shakes and Popsicles (although I haven't tired of the Popsicles yet). I will live vicariously through you and bask in the glow of your refried beans! Best of luck to you!
Congrats! Don't be alarmed if eggs seem tough at this stage. They were one of the most difficult for me early on. My first meal was also refried beans with melted cheese. :)
