How long after surgery did it take you to make your goal weight?
Just curious as to the general length of time it took VSG patients, male or female to reach their goal weight. I am just 2.5 months out of surgery and a little over half way there. I am hoping to be at goal by next summer averaging about 6 pounds of weight loss a month.

For most WL is not linear.
I went from 338 to 148 in 13 months.
Keep the path and keep it tight !!!

You can see in my signature line that it took me a little over 7 months. My husband started the process off at 295 lbs. and lost 25-30 before surgery. He got to goal in 5 months.
Men definitely lose faster than women so you might be amazed at how fast it happens for you. Good luck - you're off to a great start!
I had surgery April 28, 2014 - went to the dr in November and he said he was satisfied with my weight (7 mos)...but I was not...took me until Feb (about 9 mos and a week) to reach my personal goal - and then lost another 4 lbs after that...up 2 this summer, but it's coming off again!

I haven't made mine yet due to bad choices. I have exceeded my surgeon's expectations and I have not regained. So while I am not at goal, I feel I have been extremely successful.
I am active, I am off all diabetic and blood pressure meds and my cpap setting went from 15.5 to 8.
I can do better and I feel I will get to my ultimate goal weight of about 175.

It's all relative, really (not sure if that's the right expression). I think it depends on how much you have to lose. Someone with "only" 100 lbs to lose might make it to goal faster than someone with 200+ pounds to lose. It's not a race. My stats are in my signature line. I made it to my first goal of 150 at a little over 9 months. When I saw my surgeon for my 1 year appt, he said I had reached 95% EWL and to "keep going." Yikes I don't know what he wants from me...
