Gastric Sleeve Card?

My husband and I were both given cards...and we've never used them once.  First of all, the food on a kid's menu is pretty much crap and I wouldn't want to eat it.  And every restaurant I go to is fine with us splitting a plate.  And if we order our own we just take home leftovers.

Frankly, I find the cards useless.

One thing we all seem to agree on is that the kid's menu is crappy everywhere!

I WANT one!  How do I get one!

When i go out, I get hassled about not having a kid with me or i have to lie and say that my child is having a "melt down" and is in the car with his father.

If I only eat some of my meal, the waiters and waitresses freak out that I dont liek their food or what I ordered. Then I have to be apologetic and explain things.

That card gets rid of a lot of anxiety on the wait staffs part, and makes your life easier and less expensive!

Dont be embarrassed BE BLESSED!

Who wishes she had a card, she would whip it out so fast it would make a snapping noise!!!

You could make one up on your computer....  It's not like they're an official government document, and it's highly unlikely anyone would challenge the authenticity of the thing.  You can laminate it at the UPS Store, and there you are!  :-)

This sounds like it would be a good exercise in setting boundaries and coming up with a good (and honest) script for replying.  You don't need to "be apologetic and explain things" to servers when you don't eat everything.

Hey there Skinny, your doctor or the hospital should be able to issue one for you. Some hospitals give them by default but I've learned that you have to request it in others.

I still have not used mine but I keep it in my wallet. It makes me feel officially sleeved

I have one but am only 6 days post and don't see myself attempting this for quite a while yet.

I was given a card that has a basic explanation of what my VSG is, but it's more for use in medical emergencies than for restaurants. I have eaten at many restaurants since I had surgery and have never felt the need to ask for special consideration (other than fairly normal requests like sauce/dressing on the side, hold the potatoes, that kind of thing) nor have I ever been to a restaurant that had NOTHING that I could eat. I was out of town over the weekend and ate at several restaurants and other than having the waiter ask twice if I was really sure I didn't want a salad or side with my skewer of grilled shrimp, no issues at all with eating within the limitations of my diet. I never had to explain why I ordered small stuff or 'incomplete' meals, and nobody that I ate with cared or even noticed that what I ordered.

Interesting... I feel that EVERYONE I have a meal with (and doesn't know about my surgery), keeps noticing what I am eating, and how small it is. Ugh. It's so annoying!

I got one from my nutrition after rny. Never use it though

In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.
