Full feeling?

Hi all!

I had my VGS on Monday. I'm doing well so far. This morning was the hardest for me, but once I was able to have protein (today was first day), I've felt better! I'm struggling with mental hunger! Any tips to help out with that?!

I am also wondering what exactly that "full feeling" feels like? My coordinator suggested setting an alarm for every 15 minutes to get my fluids in. That helps a lot today! I usually drank about 2 ounces per every 15 minutes. I was able to get my 64 oz in. I guess I'm nervous that I'm going too fast? I don't want to do something that'll put me back in the hospital, but I'm following orders. Any advice for this newbie?

Hi there I am 6 days out. Initially my too full felt like a boulder lodged in my throat and my tummy kinda seized up and I start burping.

I 'm getting the full feeling now with maybe a little pressure in my belly.  Still trying to get the hang of it...overdid today on some soup of all things! Play around with it and try to see how you feel after 1/2 oz 1 oz, etc. eventually it will get easier.

sip sip and sip some more...  Congrats

Your nerves have been cut. It will be quite a while before you will feel full. That's why it is so important to measure everything.

I didn't feel full in the usual way after surgery for a long time.  I did have some clues.  My nose would start running, and I'd start producing a lot of saliva.

If I had too much, I'd have a lot of pain.  - to be avoided! (smile)

good luck,

Carol

I didn't feel full until I started eating purees. Then, whammo! Unmistakable full feeling. People progress through liquids at different rates but I was able to drink 8oz in 15 minutes pretty soon after coming home from the hospital.

I was, too, so I feel way better now about my drinking.  Liquids are fine, but purees and solid food?  Blerghh.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
