So sad, but I find I'm one of them

Oh, Lizanne, Thanks so much! He was an old grump (and had been for years), but he was my sweet grump. I know you get it.

I am so, so, so sorry.  Grieving a pet is sometimes harder than grieving a person -- many don't understand the profoundness of that loss.  Know that I am thinking of you, and if anything positive can come from this it's that you're actually feeling your feelings, as ****ty as they are.

You're right. It's a very good thing to feel the feelings rather than stuff them down. I'm very grateful for that. Thank you.

You have my sincerest sympathy too as I adore doggies and actually prefer them to people most times. At least this proves you have a huge heart! I guess we have to allow the pain to enjoy good things in life. After you have grieved awhile maybe you can give another little fur baby a home so it can share your love too. I fully believe we will see our fur friends again one day. I have several waiting for me and I love them all!

I am so sorry for your loss. My pup is definitely a member of the family. In fact the kids always joke that if I ever have to chose between my dog and my kids that they are in trouble. Be gentle to yourself during this time of grieving.

I feel just awful for you - losing a dog is so painful.  I can't even mention this to my husband, because he still feels the loss of his Cairn from 30 years ago.  They must be a very special breed.

You're doing a brave (and smart) thing by talking about it here instead of eating to try to numb the feelings.  I hope all the comments from this forum will give you strength, as you have done for so many of us.
