Minimal weight loss, disappointed

I had hoped to be one of those people that lose a significant amount

Unfortunately, that has not been the case.

I lost 35 pounds before surgery in January. And 35 just after. I have lost Nothing in the last 6-8 weeks.

l am disappointed with my clinic's response of "keep up the good work & keep moving". 

Does this happen to other people who are compliant with food and exercise?

(And in case my "tone of voice" sounds whiney, its not. Just wishing I was losing)

I hope this isn't bad news...... but, you need to drop your calories by around 400-600 cals per day to resume WL.

My guess is that you are consuming in the 1000-1200 cal range right now and you are prety much at a balance point. To lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit.

Your not whiney.... your smart for trying to figure it out !!!

How many calories are you eating per day? I have to say - I was complaining of stalling on here (I stalled for 5 weeks), and everyone told me I needed to eat fewer calories (I was eating 600-800). But I decided instead to follow my dietician's advice and take my calories up to 1000-1200 per day, and my weight started dropping off rapidly again. BUT my weight is a lot higher than yours at the moment, which could make my situation different. All that to say - try changing things up. Change up your calories (maybe start with lowering them depending on what you're eating now, given your current weight), change up the carbs you're eating (are you eating low carb?), up the water you're drinking if that's an issue. Try something new. Hopefully that will jump start things again for you.

Bottom line - something needs to change as what you are doing is not working.  Make good food choices - fiddle with the calories until you find what works - I always stayed on the low side but would sometimes throw in 2 low days, 1 higher and it seemed to help. Also keep moving - get a fitbit or cheap pedometer and make sure you walk 10,000 steps a day - at a good pace.  Sad news is some of us have to eat like a small child to lose weight and keep it off - my maintenance calories are what some people set for weight loss - it's just a fact of life.  Good luck.

Without knowing exactly what you're eating and drinking each day, and the amounts of carb/protein you're getting, it's really hard to give you any concrete advice.  

Stalling out for this long at an early stage would indicate that you're eating too much.  I would ask you to make sure you are diligently tracking every single mouthful of food in a food tracking program.  Then look at your stats for 3-4 days.  Look for these things: 

1.  Are you getting at least 80 grams of protein a day? 

2.  Are you eating less than 40 carbs per day? 

3.  Are you drinking at least 80-100 oz. of water a day? (At your weight, shoot for 100 oz.) 

4.  Are you moving your body for at least 30 minutes a day? 

5.  Are you getting at least 7 hours of sleep per night? 

6.  Have you cut out ALL bread, rice, pasta, sugar, etc?  

7.  Are you keeping calories to 800 per day?

If you are doing these things 100% every single day then you can't fail - it's impossible!  Make sure you are taking measurements when the scale doesn't move because that will indicate fat loss even if the scale doesn't show weight loss.  And fat loss is where it's at!

well. except I am 

I am doing all that except my clinic said 900-1000 calories - so I can try to cut back, but not sure where in my day to do less. And I am doing 1 - 1.5 hours of exercise, trying to bump the intensity, but then I get more hungry....

Exercise is wonderful, however it won't make a significant difference in your weight loss.  Exercise/activity is to increase the health of your body, heart, etc.  When you mention that exercise makes you more hungry, it sounds like you might be eating more calories than you think.

Can you post a log of what you eat in a day?  It may be easier to help you troubleshoot what's going on.

Are you tracking and measuring your food?  If you haven't lost anything in 6-8 weeks this early out of surgery, it's more likely that you're eating more than you think.
