Sleeved 05/27 and discharged 7 days later with PICC and TPN due to swollen esophagus.  Readmitted five days later with extensive DVT in along PICC.  Think I'm going home today... day #4.  Recovery wise, my intake is like day #2 post-surgery, as I am just starting to tolerate liquids by mouth.  My surgeon and nutritionist have explained that "my normal" will be to pass through all phases at a slower rate.  I'll probably be doing phases 1 & 2 of clear liquids for 3 weeks each.  They ordered Gelatein 20 to augment my liquid diet in the hospital.  20 grams of protein, 0 sugar, 90 calories for 8 oz.  Can be counted as 4 oz. toward water. Orange, fruit punch, and lime flavors.  Three a day hit 60 grams of protein, which is great because protein shakes are still not allowed for me. I've ordered a case (36) each of lime and fruit punch. Doesn't have to be refrigerated, so great portable protein option.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having a hard time after surgery, but glad to hear you are home again.

I couldn't tolerate protein shakes after surgery - the sweetness upset my tummy.  So I relied on chicken broth with unflavored protein powder.  I wonder if that would work for you and give you a little variety.

Hang in there.  It will be worth it when the weight starts falling away.

best wishes,

Carol

I tried a protein shake vanilla unjury this morning and it upset my stomach bad. I also purchased some Unjury chicken soap that I am going to try as well. Hang in there, I know it's HARD to get all those liquids in! Hope you get well soon and so sorry you've had a difficult time:(

I also noticed you gained a little weight after your surgery. Could that be from all your fluids you were giving at the hospital? I gained 7 pounds when I got home. Not sure how that's possible! ?

I'm thinking so... since 05.27, I've been hospitalized on IV fluids 11 days. I was on TPN at home for two days. How did the Unjury soup work for you ?
