Hello,

Is it common to have upper back pain post-op? It's not a deep, internal pain. It feels like muscles. I can get it to go away if I am in just the right position, and I never get it while sleeping. But I NEVER had back pain before I had surgery so this is weird. I can't even figure out why it would be my upper back and not my lower back. lol.

They put you in some strange positions on the operating table so the pain will probably go away in a few days, just twisted muscles. Maybe try some rub on muscle creme.

Thanks! I will try that. I think I might be holding myself in weird positions too because the incision where they took my stomach out hurts when I sit a certain way.

I had horrible back pain as well.   I swore it wasnt but it turned out to be gas and it took a few weeks for the gas pains to stop.  WALK WALK WALK and try some liqued sugar free tylenol and gas ex.  Let me know how it goes.  :)

Thanks! I am actually pretty sure this isn't the gas pains. I had those after surgery and they felt different. Gas-X has been a lifesaver! This feels like a muscle pain. I think I am holding myself in weird positions because one of my incisions hurts when I sit a certain way. This pain didn't start until I was about three days out.
