The medical staff would like you to wait until you are discharged from the hospital.

You can resume your sex life as soon as you feel comfortable. Laparoscopic surgery has a shorter wait time and fewer restrictions than open surgery.

I happened to overhear a different patient in the adjacent room from me ask my doctor when he could resume sex. The doctor said to wait a week post op and then do whatever is comfortable. I remember feeling like absolute death at the time and wondering how in the world he could be thinking about sex. But everyone feels differently post-op. I waited a good 6 weeks. But certainly that isn't necessary in terms of healing.

I tried it too soon. The IV needle in my arm made it really hurt like hell.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

I'm not a doctor Grim, or have I ever played one on TV. But I think you would have been fine and cured the pain if you would have just switched hands.
