Whole Milk vs VSG (4 days post-op)
I am coming to a horrifying realization that I won't be able to drink my one life staple.... whole milk.
In the hospital they gave me 2%, no issues drinking that. I like whole and have only drank whole milk for as long as I have been buying my own groceries (decades.....)
How could this be? It's the ONE thing I didn't want/couldn't ever give up. Now when I just drink one ounce, it sits in my esophagus waiting for an invitation to my new stomach. It can take a couple hours for it to move along. Nothing else, even yogurt, takes that long.
I don't know what lactose intolerance feels like, but I don't think it's that.
In my best Nancy Kerrigan whine..."wwhhhyyyyyyy?"
Drink skim milk for a week, and you'll find the taste of whole milk repulsive. Too thick. Too fatty. And skim milk will be your new love. (Personally, I switched to almond milk.)
I've been fat, and I've been thin - and thin is better.
There is a better way. --Alaine of Lyndar
