Will I feel like joining a camping trip 2 weeks post op?

I won't have to do any lifting or setting up the tent, etc, there's plenty of teenagers to help with that :)  Will I feel like even going though?  My daughter is looking forward to it (she's 8) but I'm not sure if I should cancel this year or not.  We go every year with the same friends.   What do you all think?

I'm just over one week post op, and I wouldn't imagine I'd want to go camping.  Part of it is I feel uncomfortable sleeping in my own bed, and I can't imagine camping out.  Everyone recovers differently, as you're aware I'm sure.  Would it be possible for you to say you're planning to attend but may need to cancel last minute?  (Perhaps someone else can commit to watching over your daughter if you don't go?)

I love camping and I had a complication-free recovery and can confidently say that no way in hell would I have gone camping at two weeks out. I was still pretty much exhausted and the thought of sleeping on a mattress on the ground (and getting up and down from the ground) would have made me cry. Also, I was still on liquids and hauling all my stuff for a liquid diet for camping would have been pretty daunting. Finally, two weeks out is still in a risk zone for complications such as leaks -- I would have wanted to be within easy contact and reach of my surgeon and hospital.

That may all just be me being a complete wimp though. Trust your instincts for what is right for you

No way, no how.  And I'm speaking from the point of view of someone *****bounded very quickly and was back to work within 10 days of surgery.  Don't do it.

Everyone is different and heels and feels differently. Can you decide last minute. Eight days post opt I tailgated and went to a football game all day. I left the house at 8:00 am and I got home 10:00 pm! I had no bathroom issues. I made sure I had a protein shake in the arm and brought yogurt and premier protein with me along with a ton of water. I felt great.

You could probably do it and be fine... I mean, I felt fine two weeks out; however, I still didn't want to "take it on the road" yet. We had a picnic scheduled at two weeks out and I just let my husband take the kids. I still didn't feel like going and doing stuff. Now, once I got on pureed foods... much better situation. I even went to lunch with friends today (who have no idea I had the surgery) and they didn't even notice I ate soup while they chowed down. Plus, my energy is way up and I am more confident in my ability to stick to plan.

My vote would be... not the best idea.
