This is day one of my liver shrinking liquid diet. It started out ok but now it's 7 p.m. and I feel queasy, shaky, and I have a headache. I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do. Is this normal?

Totally normal.  The first 3-4 days are always the worst.

It is very normal. It will get better in a few days. This is the hardest part but you are almost to your surgery. Hang in there because it will be worth it. I promise!

I had a raging headache too.  My doctor suggested it was caffeine and carbohydrate withdrawal.  It gets better.  One thing that helped me was fresh, cold-pressed juices.  If you have a Whole Foods near you, try some of the clearer options.  Lots of vitamins and some natural sugar; they helped my headache.

Thank you for the suggestion of the juices. I'll have to try that!

Juice was definitely not allowed on my pre-op diet (or post-op diet) so please check with your surgeon before you add them to your diet.

Juices weren't allowed for me either.  They're filled with carbs which is the one thing you're generally trying to avoid on the preop diet.  Check with your surgeon's office before you go down that road.

The first few days are just awful.  It's common to have headaches and feel shaky.  It will get better and you will have more energy in a few days.  Hang in there.  This is the worst part of the whole deal, but you can do it
