I can totally understand the self sabotaging stuff, it's like you know what you're doing but you do it anyway even when you shouldn't. The only thing I can suggest is PUT THE SCALE AWAY! If you know when you get to a certain # you're going to overeat, maybe it's best not to know when you reach that #, at least for awhile till you figure it out.

Concentrate on what you've been doing, eating right, plus I know you're super into fitness, maybe concentrate on that for awhile. Maybe get a smaller size pair of jeans & use that as a measurement of when you get past or near the 180 mark, keep wearing those jeans, if they get snug, you know what to do. I'm sure you'll get past this! Good Luck! You got this!

My plan is definitely to not weigh myself for two weeks.  And hopefully that'll give me time to get under 180 so I'll be through this barrier!  It should only take a week or two, I lose wonderfully when I'm not trapped in this idiotic cycle.

I can certainly understand the self sabotage and obsession with a number. I like the idea of putting the scale away or the possibility of having someone else document my weight (so I have it for my tracking and records) and not know the results for a few weeks. May shake you out of the obsession about that particular number. I always feel rotten when I sabotage myself and most the time it doesn't seem like it's worth it afterwards but at that moment it's the only thing I want more than anything.

I've thought about putting tape over the display on the scale, just so I can still get the data.  Heh.  But I know that wouldn't keep me from checking out my TrendWeight, so I just need to not weigh for a few weeks and see what happens :)

What if you commit to eating right today and have someone in the house take your scale away for a month??  Stick to your plan, stay off the scale and next time you weight in - you hopefully will be below 180 and that issue is gone!  I think for some reason many of us fear success.  Life  does not change when you hit your weightloss goal - and as very large people we blame all our problems on our weight.  The reality that this is not the situation is a bit traumatic.  I stalled a bit after my daughter's wedding - after all, I had worked so hard to look good for the wedding???  Then I said to myself, "just get this done!!"  I think your ultimate goal is very low for your height.  You may want to reassess at some point, but that's your choice.  I know you can do this Gwen!  Once you get firmly under 180 there's no stopping you!

Having someone else hide the scale isn't really an option for me - I need to have the willpower not to weigh myself.  Not to mention the scale is a household scale that my family uses as well.  I need to figure this out without inconveniencing the rest of my family  Which I can do :)

My ultimate goal of 120 is firmly in the middle of the normal range for my weight - I might not be able to get there without plastics, but I'm going to make a really good try!

Its just a number...........easier said than done right! I know that I will get certain things/goals in my head and be fixated on it! I know my first goal is 180......I have a doctors apt June, 1st so I'll find out how far away I am.

I know right now I feel great, look great and have no health issues related to the weight I am now. Will I be content at 180 or will I push for 160?

You doing a great job of taking care of your physical and mental health. You recognize what you're doing now. I have no doubt that you will have this figured out!! Good luck and you gave me lots to think about!

Not weighing myself is one of the reasons I got to be super morbidly obese - I can't live in the denial that comes from not weighing.  Thankfully TrendWeight exists and it really helps me to view my weight as a data point instead of something to obsess about.

I'm just struggling, mentally, with weighing less than 180.  Sigh.
