I appreciate that you shared all these thoughts with me - you and I are similar in a lot of ways!  I'm definitely not a failure - I'm just stumbling a little bit right now and, you're right, that's worth focusing on.

I'm not afraid that I won't reach my goal, I know I will.  I just fear weighing less than 180 - since I never have and it scares me :(

You so hit my nail on the head with some of what you just said.  I hit first goal of Onderland and have been stuck there this week.  I made homemade tuna salad and chicken salad and guess my journey isn't ready for it.  I was thinking about it last night and wondering if I am also sabatoging my own progress and if so, why?  I do not see a therapist (not a good one around here) but do read the forums for support, advice, understanding.  When the ones that have been there done that post issues they are facing or have overcome, it is a great ispiration to those of us that are still fairly new on this journey.  Thank you Gwen.  Have a blessed day.

I'm a little over 8# from goal.  I have been for two weeks.  I hit onderland and its was Wooohooo!....party....not really but you get it.  I was so happy I became less vigilant about exercise, carbs, and calories.  I have refocused a couple of days ago and I'm trying to do it before 6/23, my 9 month visit.  The good part is I've learned that 1600 calories and 100 grams of carbs is my maintenance program.  I came up 3-4 pounds and then sit there, and sit there, and sit there.......Back down to my 1000-1200 calories and 37 grams of carbs to start losing again.  

I think you just got a little complacent and happy.  Just refocus and you'll be fine.  Good luck!

I'm totally vigilant in my regular daily eating, but once I get close to that 180 on the scale, I lose it and freak out.  (I don't feel like I'm freaking out at the time.. but that's what happens.)  

Huh.  Maybe I should stay off the scale for the next week and see what happens.... If I can get below 180 when I'm not weighing myself, it might not be so problematic.  That might trick my brain into submission actually.

My goal weight is 136.  At eighteen months out I was firmly stuck at 142.  I went on a high carb, no protein diet for a month.  It was suggested in a Dr. Atkins book that you can shock the body into losing again with a complete turn around. 

I ate non-starchy fruits and vegetables and no protein.  I did not eat huge amounts and I averaged 800 calories a day.  I ate strawberries, blueberries, oranges, pineapple, apples, peaches, pears, grapes, cherries, and melons.  I had green beans, spinach, lettuces, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, squash, cucumber and tomatoes.  I used salad dressing and sugarfree Cool Whip.

No milk, eggs, butter, margarine, potatoes, rice, bread, flour, bread, meat or fish.

I dropped fourteen pounds very quickly and kept them off when I went back to high protein, low carb.

This is just my experience and what worked for me.  I know that with your other health issues, this might not be possible for you.

For me it's not that I'm stalled because of my diet, it's just that I'm in a loop of "OMG 180, GORGE."  I need to figure out how not to panic when I get close to 180 :/

White Dove is spot on.  

The key to breaking a stall is to shock the body with something completely different than what it has 'adjusted to'.

Change up the routine with some different strategy for food intake or more aggressive exercise - just temporarily - will work every time.

PS I am an expert on both losing weight and gaining weight. I have lost and gained back the equivalent of several small people in my lifetime - LOL!
