I had surgery 2 years ago at the age of 51.  Surgery was Friday and I was home on Sunday.  Started driving on Tuesday and had good energy off and on.  Went back to work full-time (desk job) the next Monday.  A total of 10 days off.

I was 51 when I had surgery.  I took 2 weeks as this was what was recommended.  I have an office job.  It was fine.  I was a little tired by the end of the day, but it was wasn't bad.

I was 58 and was out 2 weeks. I felt like I could have gone back sooner but was advised not to drive. I did spend more time in the hospital than I expected but after that it was smooth sailing.

Had it on a Monday and went back to work the following Monday. However I work from home but at a desk. I just got up and moved around a lot.

Not only was I a cheap date to anesthesia, but my job reiqured a sharp mid and wit, and mental aquity just wasn't there for several weeks.  I took a total of 8 weeks off and was grateful for the first 6.

I am 30, so a bit younger, but I was back to work the 8th day after surgery. I tired easily and was still sore and had weight restrictions for lifting, but had no problems going back at that time. Honestly, could have gone back earlier, and I'm a dog groomer so it's a pretty physical job. If I'd been doing typical desk job stuff I could have been able to function just fine by the third day post-op.

Thanks, everyone! I have surgery on a Thursday, and am planning on taking the following week off, then back to work the next Monday (10 days). I have a desk job. Y'all have given me confidence this is a reasonable plan, barring complications.  :)
