Hubby's VSG is in 12 hours!

After being delayed for a week due to the surgeon's schedule, my husband finally goes in for his VSG tomorrow! The same surgeon performed my RNY 2 weeks ago, and so far my recovery has been much easier than expected (I took a hike and then played Dance Dance Revolution today!), so I hope his will be just as easy. If anyone has any words of wisdom for how I can best support him post-op, I would appreciate it! Especially things that might be different between the RNY and VSG that I might not have thought of based on my own recovery.
Incidentally, he's annoyed with me right now because I keep asking "are you ready for this?" But I'm just excited for us to be on the road to better health together, to be more active with our nieces and nephews, and to give our dog the kind of exercise he deserves.
How exciting for you both! Best wishes for a speedy recovery...xoxo

I'm excited for the two of you! My husband had VSG surgery 11 months after I had mine. I would caution you to not set yourself up as the "guru" of all things weight-loss because his journey will be different than yours.
You can best support him by knowing his post-op diet requirements and having foods in the house that he can eat. Also, be prepared to baby him for a few days because men just don't handle ANY kind of pain as well as we do
Be prepared for him to pepper you with a million questions. Just remind him that you're only a couple weeks ahead of him and you have a different surgery. This will be new territory that you'll both have to navigate together. Emotions can be a bit of a rollercoaster for both of you so have patience with each other and enjoy the ride

Very good advice, thank you! I've been bugging the daylights out of a friend who had VSG in December, so I could totally see him peppering me with questions too. And you're absolutely right about pain...he's normally the "silent steel" type, until he's sick or injured, lol.
