She cant stay awake, 4oz water a day, 5g protein a day

My girlfriend is 9 months off, and her drinking water and eating protein has always been under the 64oz and 60g by a lot. Lately she has been having no more than 5g of protein a day and 6oz of water a day. The past three days she cant stay awake longer than 30-60 min. In 3 days she drank 5oz water, drank 2-3oz protein shake, and took one small bite from lunchmeat.

She refused to go to hospital. Should I consider calling the ambulance, or wait it out till monday. If she doesnt improve monday, call her drs?

Im scared for her and frustrated.

If you call an ambulance, their personnel can do a brief evaluation, and possibly give you specific advice on her condition.  Is there an advice nurse, or urgent care doctor that you could phone, and ask your question?  In California, there are phone-in consultations available with both nurses and doctors, depending on your insurance plan.  If you don't know, you could call the local hospital and ask them if that service is available.  Please make a call tonight, just to be sure.

Best wishes.

you should call an ambulance NOW. Don't wait till Monday, she is starving to death and is likely severely dehydrated and dehydration can be deadly.

Her condition is very serious.  Talk to a doctor or a nurse or get her to a hospital ASAP.  You could try calling her surgeon.  They usually have an answering service that can get a message to the doctor.

Just in case this post is for real......

Get her to emergency ASAP, at the very least she needs IV fluids.

I would think any doctor hearing what you just wrote would have a blood panel done as well as checking out organ functions.

Than when stabilized try and find out why she cannot eat or drink.

This sounds very scary.

I fully agree with the others this is an emergency! Either take her to the ER yourself or call the ambulance she is in very bad shape this is far from anything normal. She may have a stricture (blockage) or something preventing her from getting in what she should be or she is trying to starve herself for some reason but either way she needs professional help to get it figured out and to get her back to a healthy position. Something is very wrong!

get her to a hospital now , if she refuses to go you may need a family( hers) member to claim she is not in her right mind and needs medical care

if she physically can't eat or drink there is need for medical care to fix that if it is physiological, she needs medical care and physiological care

if this is real it sounds like her body is shutting down and needs an iv to replace fluids and feed her

if this is a joke it is a terrible one that will scare people away from life saving surgery

Thank you all. Telling her about the first couple posts helped convince her to go. She was SEVERELY dehydrated. Her kidneys are shutting down and her blood pressure extremely low. Even after 4 liters of fluid by IV.

I just wanted to respond quickly before heading back to ICU after catching a few hours sleep.

Again, thank you everyone.

Hope all goes well.  Please make sure they address the root cause, whether it's medical or psychological.  If you hadn't taken action, this could have ended quite differently.  She's lucky you are there, and willing to help her!

Best wishes,
