OH NO! WHAT TO EAT ON BIRTHDAY WEEK 3??
Hi all!
I had my VSG done on 4/23/2015 so I am on semi solids and liquid! Other than soups I have only had yogurt and avocado so far so I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for me? My birthday is actually TOMORROW and I was hoping there was something delicious I could treat myself to but at this rate I will just have a protein shake with a candle in it LOL.
Also, how much weight have you all lost by week 3 and what about exercising? I have lost about 15 lbs but I feel like it MUST be water weight I have been taking two 15 minute walks a day this week so far and want to start strength training if it is safe.
Thanks!
A
Since your options are limited, I doubt there's anything special you can eat other than maybe your favorite kind of yogurt. Try to make your birthday about spending time with loved ones, or treat yourself with a pedicure/massage instead of food.I was given a clear lifting restriction of no more than 5 pounds for 6 weeks. Even if you feel fine physically, you will probably be way too sore if you try strength training before you're ready.

It might be time to find a way to celebrate your birthday WITHOUT a food "reward". Part of this process is changing the relationship we have with food. Celebrations do not have to center around food. You could treat yourself to a massage, or have your nails manicured. Go get a new haircut.
Happy Birthday!
I had a series of functions and celebrations to attend in the first few weeks, and I didn't need food to celebrate. There are so many things that can be fulfilling rewards that don't go straight into our mouth. Buy a nice pair of shoes, or get your hair done, mani/pedi, buy a membership to a gym... our world doesn't revolve around a plate and fork like it used to.
I suggest you take a rain-check on your birthday celebration and celebrate in a few weeks when you can have more variety. My first restaurant meal after VSG was for my hubby's birthday, and I ordered an appetizer with Scallops, and took half of it home! (smile) but it was delicious and easy to digest.
15 pounds in three weeks is great. I lost 20 in the first month, so you are right on target to match my best month!
Keep up the good work!
Carol

I agree with everyone else who said it's probably best to try to work on disassociationg food from celebrations - but as a compromise, how about sugar free, fat free cheesecake-flavored pudding made with protein powder added in and a few sprinkles on top?
