Just got sleeved!
I had my VSG on 4/7/15 with Dr. Nicholson in Dallas. I am 4 weeks post op today and down 28 lbs. The biggest issue I had was the gas pain in my left shoulder, but once that went away and I had normal movements within my system and I was walking enough things have been great. Weight loss has been slow, and I am tolerating food well but managing portions is my problem and getting enough exercise is my battle.
I seem to be ok now with gas. Its mostly soreness on the side i have the biggest insicion. Also can pretty much only tolerate the ice chips, water and chicken broth. Jello and I dont get along, found that out the hard way for dinner, and they gave me beef and veggie broth but stomach complained. not as much as with the jellow tho. Taking small sips and spoonfuls of ice chips and its hard because i know i need to get enough fluids BUT im also feeling full:) of course i do see some foods on the tv and fb that i cant wait to be able to eat, however, im not hungry like really hungry for it anymore. I guess i just need to let my stomach get use to one drink at a time and sipping on that. Still wondering how i am going to get my fluid in. Once im out of hospital i plan on (if they let me drive) go walking around places with a bottle of water so i dont sleep the whole time and therefore not get my fluids.
I sipped shot glasses of water for the first day or so, then I got a bigger glass that is insulated so it stayed colder longer and now I am up to the bigger glasses 24 ounces and I do about 4-6 of those a day either water or crystal ligh****er which gives me some flavor. I am not missing diet cokes but I occasionally miss an orange diet Sunkist.
