Just tried the GNC Carnivor brand 50g protein shot in orange and it leaves a really horrible after taste. My question is since it's only 3 ounces can it be chugged to avoid the flavor or does 3 ounces have to be sipped? I am having surgery in 6 days so I'm still not sure HOW I'm supposed to eat and drink. I'm really hoping I can drink the protein shot in one gulp. Thanks in advance

I am 4 months out and I am not able to gulp down anything.  I would suggest Syntrax Nectars.

What are the ingredients for the protein shot?  Most that I'm aware of use collagen which is not a good course of protein - you want to aim for whey protein isolate as the primary ingredient.

That said, I was directed to drink 1 ounce every 15 minutes when I was immediately post-op.  Everything I drank needed to be sipped, at least for the first many days!

It's a mix of Whey and Beef protein isolate. Leaves a horrid after taste though. Has more amino acids since it's beef. I did my research on these and thing they're a good option for getting in protein coupled with my post op diet plan

You're right I swore it had both weird. I did read that it is better absorbed because of the amino acids

I was told not to drink the protein shots from my NUT due to the poor quality of the protein. You will NOT be able to chug 3 ounces right after surgery. Its more like 2-3 tablespoons of water every 3-4 minutes. I'm 5 months post-op and I also still can't chug water. It also took me about 3-4 days to be able to start drinking my protein shakes after surgery. Then it took me almost 1 day to finish 1 shake. But daily, it got better as my stomach began to heal. Good luck on your surgery. Best decision you'll ever make! I LOVE my sleeve!
