How Long Post-Surgery until I can travel for Vacation???
I hoped on a plane about 1.5 weeks after my surgery and headed from Toronto to Halifax for a week with my nephew. He did all the heavy lifting and he and I walked and toured all week. I had no complications, felt amazing getting out and about. Being active really kick started my weight loss. My doctor did tell me to stretch and walk during the flight to ward off blood clots but otherwise I felt great. I guess it really depends on how you feel after surgery. If you are a quick healer like me you might really enjoy relaxing away from home! I did!
I would go with your surgeon's advice. Mine told me I could travel a week after surgery. I ended taking a road trip about 2 weeks after surgery. He just said every 30 minutes get out and stretch for about 30 seconds. Handling the diet is probably going to be the hardest part.
My wife is having surgery tomorrow and her surgeon said to get up and get moving ASAP and even go back to work after a week if she felt ready. He put very few restritictions on her. We will see what we are told at the hospital.

I traveled to Boston 3 weeks post op for work, and to Aruba 5 weeks post op for fun :) Both trips required a lot of planning, lots of sugar free pops, and protein shakes. I actually enjoyed Aruba, it was a great place to relax and recover and do a little walking.
