13 days post op experiencing heart burn.

Well I'm taking my acid meds but I think I need something else. Will this be permanent? What can I take that is over the counter that will help any recommendations please and thank you.

If what you're taking isn't working please call your doctor to get something stronger.  I had to go through 3-4 different ones before we hit on one that worked and I wasn't allergic to :-/  I take Protonix right now.  In the meantime, for breakthrough acid you can always pop a couple Tums.  

Will it be permanent?  No one can predict that.  Some people are able to wean off of the PPIs eventually.   A friend of mine with the DS knows she'll be on Protonix for life.  I'm almost 2 years post-op and I still take 20mg Protonix daily.  I'll probably try weaning off again this summer to see if it sticks this time.
