from super obese to simply obese

Good morning!

My BMI today is 39.9.  I am officially "obese," not morbidly obese nor super obese.  My BMI at the very first surgeon's visit was 61.9.  I remember the feeling of an electric shock that my BMI had topped 60.  I flash visualized my future and it was dismal.

I never thought that weight loss surgery was for me because I am excellent at losing weight, even a lot of weight. But, I am just as excellent at packing it back on.  In the moment of Oh My God my BMI IS OVER 60, I realized that I was out of time to do it on my own.

I am so grateful for the sleeve.  I am pretty sure that I am supposed to say that surgery isn't the easy way out.  But for me, it pretty much has been.  Usually, I hit a point in a diet where my body goes to war and SCREAMS to defend every single fat cell.  It was so hard (impossible?) to fight against the scream time and time again.  The surgery muted that scream.  It is simply absent.  I know that I am still in the honeymoon period, a newbie, and eventually things could change.  But, for now, I feel at peace.

I am determined. I don't cheat. I expect results. Many days I am unreasonably impatient.  In this last month, I stopped my diuretic blood pressure pill and it took weeks for the water (stupid water!) to even out and weight loss to begin again.

But, today, my body is quiet, at peace, and I am grateful.

Congratulations!!  I have found that WLS has been pretty easy for me.  I expect it to start getting harder, but for now, I'm pretty happy. :)

After reading your post, I checked my BMI.  I didn't realize that I am now 39.7 and now just simply obese like you..  WOW.. What a journey this has been and going to continue being.  Congratulations to you and keep on keeping on..

Congratulations!, I too went from SMO, to MO, to just obese & am working my way to overweight & onderland! It definitely feels great. My body is currently "defending" its fat cells, they'll give up, eventually.

You are doing great!  It is a great feeling to move down the stages.

I'm not sure the fat cells ever give up.  I imagine my sneaky *******s are already trying to rally.

Congratulations! That is awesome! When I dropped below 40, I was ecstatic. I am at 33.9 now and I can't wait to see it fall under 30. This has been such a blessing. Keep up the great work!
