How many calories were you eating at 2 months?

I went to my 2 month post op appnt today. Overall everything looked good (vitamin levels were good...yay:), but the surgeon's assistant said I am not eating near enough calories. I normally eat 6-800 calories a day, but they want me to eat 1000-1200. Also, she said I need to eat every 3-4 hours. Has anyone else been told this?

I was. I had my one month post op last week (really it was 6 weeks), and was told to keep calories at 1000, eat 3 meals and 2 snacks, and keep protein between 60-80. My average is still between 800-900 calories, primarily closer to 800, and protein is averaging around 70.

At this point, I have eliminated shakes (yes!) and will eat a protein bar to supplement calories and protein if needed. If I'm really deficient in both, I'll eat a Premiere bar. If I just need a boost I'll do a Quest bar, which has lower calories, fat, and protein than Premiere, but taste so much better!

It is so odd how so many of our surgeons plans are so different. Mine says to not worry about calories, just to aim for 75 grams of protein a day and only 3 meals, no snacks. This was at my 6-week post-op appt.

At two months, I was eating between 600-800 calories.  Do you have diabetes?  It could be a reason why she wants you to eat every 3-4 hours to keep your blood sugar levels from spiking.

No I do not have diabetes. I told her I keep stalling and she said that my body thinks I'm starving it. Since my calories are so low and because that is causing my metabolism to slow.  I would think as long as I'm getting my protein in then it wouldn't matter if I was under 800 calories. Guess I am wrong? I know I shouldn't question my surgeon and his staff too much (they know more than I do) but 1000-1200 seems like too much.

I just went back into MFP and checked. At two months out I was eating about 500 calories a day. I saw some in the mid-400s, and most in the 550-580 range. My nutritionist had told me that spring (last spring), that she wanted me up to 1000 by the summer. I was in no rush, though. At a year out I eat plenty now LOL!

You'll find we all have a different answer. My NUT doesn't want me counting calories. I'm 3 months out and she just wants me to keep within 30-35 grams of carbs, drink my water, make sure I'm getting 64 grams of protein (based on our height) and eat 3 meals a day with only protein shakes or bars for snacks. I use myfitnesspal to log all my food daily and it averages about 6-800 calories (2-3 ounces of food for BL&D).
