I don't understand this at all....

The bigger question is this:  what is your body composition right now?  What is your amount of body fat as opposed to lean body mass?  THAT is what is important - not the actual number on the scale.  Go get some underwater body fat testing or BodPod testing done to figure that out so you have a better idea of what your numbers are.

And if you want to lose a quick 10 lbs. then just chop off your head   What happens when you lose those 44 lbs.?  Is someone paying you a million bucks?  Seriously....because what you're going to find out is that the day you hit "goal" is nothing special.  It just means you get to wake up the next day and do the same thing all over again - eat right, move your body, track your food and live your life the best you know how.  Yes, it will feel good but you'll discover that it's pretty anti-climatic.  Because the hard work starts AFTER you hit goal.

Don't be defined by a number on the scale.  It'll happen all in good time.  In the meantime, learn the lessons you'll need to know so you can STAY at that weight.  Because THAT my dear, is the real trick.  Losing the weight is the easy part!

Realistically??  At least 22 weeks....you may get lucky, but if you don't want to be totally frustrated (which it sounds like you already are)...sit back and enjoy the ride.  Whatever the loss, you're in a way better place than you were a week ago and as you look back you'll be amazed!  Gwen's right...none of us can predict, it's just what most of us have experienced.  Best of luck...5.5 weeks is way to early to worry about slowing down!

All right then, realistically how long will it take me to lose another 44 lbs. I had surgery 5.5 weeks ago.

44 pounds will take you 93.4 days to lose, if you stick closely to your plan.

If you don't stick to plan, reaching goal is calculated by the inverse tangent function approaching an asymptote.

One of the bigger things I had to get over was having myself on a calendar. My body lost at its own pace. All I could control was my behavior.

I'd say since your a man 3-4 months.  I think most people who stick to the program average about  10 lbs a month

10lb a month may be a good guess at first, but most folks don't lose that rapidly for long, especially as the total amount left to lose decreases.

I lost 290 pounds, and never averaged a pound a day. My best month was 21 pounds.

Losing weight is NOT the same as burning fat. If the scale makes you crazy, put it away.

If you're weighing yourself daily, please stop. It's not a good idea & will drive you nuts. Agree with what others have said re: losing 1lb/day. That just isn't realistic.
