OMG..best thinned oatmeal I have EVER had!!!   Graduated today off the clear liquids.  Yay.. Now perhaps can start figuring out stuff without the Splenda in it.  Oh BTW you CAN chew thinned oatmeal.  Not trying to be too silly but sooo happy and feeling good.  Now need to find the feeling of a different kind of full instead of stuffed.  Has been good so far,  no foamies and very little nausea.  Just wanted to check in.. Oatmeal, while tasty, seems like a poor post-op choice.  You really should be sticking to protein rich foods at this point!

I haven't had oatmeal (yet), but it is on my suggested pureed foods list & on some others I've seen. I wonder if some recommend it just because it can be difficult to find non-gross-sounding puréed options? Or maybe just because it's popular?

Some plans also suggest mashed potatoes.. just because we can eat carb heavy foods, doesn't mean we should!

My pureed diet was amazing.  I was especially fond of chicken curry.  YUM!

I was given a recipe to boost the protein in thinned oatmeal.  Use skim milk and add unflavored protein to the oatmeal.

Adding protein to a high carb food doesn't really make it a good option, in my opinion.  I'd rather stick to high protein foods that are low in carbs to begin with.
